|
The DigitalTourist is serious about testing. I want to make sure that the reviews you come to rely on when you start to research a purchase of any digital imaging equipment, has test results that can justify the rating that it is awarded. While there will be dozens of images to select from with each camera or scanner for illustration purposes, there will also be a small cadre of test images that each camera and scanner will be tested against. For example, each digital camera will have to capture images of a GretagMacbeth ColorChecker (www.gretagmacbeth.com/index/products/products_colorcheckers.htm). This test target will provide a constant against which each camera can be judged. Each scanner will be required to scan any number of reflective or transparency targets. These test targets measure color accuracy and the scanner's ability to accurately capture grayscale information. Do images on your monitor have a bluish appearance? Most monitors are set at the factory to a color temperature (9300 degree Kelvin) that appears much bluer than what your eye perceives daylight-balanced light to be. If your system can select from several color temperature settings, we recommend D65 or 6500 degrees Kelvin. This will bring your monitor closer to a daylight balance and enhance your color-correction experiences with your favorite image manipulation application.. Questions?
